FAQs

Is my piece worth restoring?
Yes, if it is part of a set, part of your family heritage, fits and looks good in your home, it is truly an antique (100 years), or if it is a piece of good quality furniture. In most cases, restoration will never exceed value. At The Restoration Society, we compete work that a client wants us to do, regardless of the age or value.

Will restoring my piece of furniture hurt the value?
Many TV shows have discussed restoration and how it can affect the value of antiques. Each item has to be evaluated separately and restored or conserved in a manner that is reversible.

Conservation may be most appropriate on "investment-grade" antiques. Whereas, on a different item, a complete restoration may be appropriate. Rest assured The Restoration Society has more than 40 years experience carefully performing the work that increases or preserves the value of your items.

I have a set that is missing pieces. What can be done?
The Restoration Society of the Restoration Society can fabricate missing elements and we are purveyors of high-quality, unfinished furniture and custom-made items to enhance or complete your furniture set.

Can you match the color of a finish to another item?
We make our own colors at The Restoration Society and our goal is to do the right color or finish.

Does The Restoration Society repair furniture?
Absolutely. The repair can be as simple as re-gluing a chair, matching a decorative element, or creating an intricate carving for a large-scale project.

Where are you located?
Our address is 3414 Decoursey Avenue, Latonia, KY 41015. Click here for directions.

Can my item/items be completed by a specific date?
Due to the nature of our business, we cannot give a definite date as to when the work will be completed - even weather can be a factor (drying time, etc.) Our craftsmen perform the necessary tasks by hand on your items.

Because each job is different and specific, it is often difficult to determine an exact timeframe. We ask for your patience and understanding in this matter. When your project is completed, we will call you and also mail a notice to you, telling you that the items are completed. It is our goal to satisfy your needs.

Thank you for your understanding and consideration in this matter.

Do you do "Insurance Work?"
If your family heirlooms or cherished antiques suffer through a fire, flooding or other type of unavoidable situation, we are happy to work with you and your insurance company to restore your items to the best of our ability.
